Chak
How to make your profile page and short links on chak.uno, add UTM tags, use your own domain for short links, get QR codes and click statistics, and how to report a dangerous link.
What it is
Chak at chak.uno does two things:
- A profile page under your handle, for example chak.uno/@yourhandle, with your name, picture and a list of your links. Put this one address in your bio on other networks.
- Short links of the form chak.uno/code that send visitors on to a longer address. A short link can also live on your own domain, such as links.yourbrand.com/code. For each link you can get a QR code and see how often it was opened.
Get started
- Open chak.uno and press Sign in.
- Sign in with your Chakloon Passport.
- You are in your Chak cabinet at chak.chakloon.net, where your links and your profile page live.
Make a short link
- In the cabinet, create a new link.
- Paste the full address where the link should lead.
- Choose your own code for the link, or keep the suggested one.
- If you have connected your own domain, choose it under Short link domain.
- Save. Copy the short link, or download its QR code.
You can change the destination of a link later, switch a link off, and search and sort your links.
UTM tags
UTM tags are added to the destination address, so that your own analytics sees where visitors came from.
- In the form of a link, open UTM tags.
- Fill in the tags you need: source, medium, campaign, term and content.
- Save the link.
If the address you paste already carries utm_ tags, Chak recognises them and shows them in the same fields when you edit the link. In the statistics of your links you see clicks by Campaigns (utm_campaign), Sources (utm_source) and Channels (utm_medium).
Your own domain
Short links can use your own domain instead of chak.uno. You can connect up to three domains.
- In the cabinet, open Your domains and press Connect domain.
- Enter the domain, for example links.yourbrand.com.
- At the registrar of your domain, add the DNS record that the cabinet shows: a CNAME record for a subdomain such as links.example.com, or A and AAAA records for a root domain such as example.com.
- Wait. Chak checks the record every few minutes and issues a security certificate for the domain by itself. The status changes from Waiting for DNS to Issuing certificate and then to Domain connected. DNS changes can take up to an hour.
The DNS record is the proof that the domain is yours: nothing else is needed. If the domain stops pointing to Chak, the cabinet warns you, and the links on it stop working after 7 days. To disconnect a domain, first move or delete the links on it; when you disconnect it, its certificate is removed. Links on your own domain follow the same rules as links on chak.uno.
Build your profile page
- Open the profile page in the cabinet.
- Add blocks with your links and texts, and arrange them in the order you want.
- Choose a theme.
- Publish. The page is then public at chak.uno/@yourhandle.
Click statistics
For each link you see the number of clicks and how they divide by country, device and browser, and, for links with UTM tags, by campaign, source and channel. Clicks by bots are counted apart. You see only totals: we do not show you the IP addresses, names or accounts of visitors, and we do not count unique visitors. Visitors of your links and your page get no cookies from Chak.
Rules, reports and where to write
Chak links and pages must not lead to phishing, malware, scams or illegal content, and a profile page must not impersonate anyone. Every link is checked automatically when you create or edit it and then every hour. A link to a dangerous address is not created, opens only through a warning page or is blocked, and you are notified. We may also switch off a link or close an account. The full rules are in the Chak Acceptable Use Policy.
To report a dangerous link or page, press Report on the profile page, on the warning page or at the bottom of a Chak page, or open chak.chakloon.net/report. You can also write to abuse@chak.uno or abuse@chakloon.com with the full short link or the address of the page and what is wrong with it. Anything involving the sexual abuse of children goes to child-safety@chakloon.com at once.
